When a teenager says to you they dont wanna go to a Pizza Party, then should give you a heads up !! hmmm why? well being the detective that I am , I was right sometimes you have to push them out there , its a Life Lesson how else will they learn unless they try. they need to learn slowly to to solve there own problems and to figure out alternative solutions.

Keep everything, All communications, All emails,
Keep a notebook or a Binder, with the originals of anything you sent them or they sent you includng progress reports, report cards, Give your input dont be afraid to say whatyou think, or what you want to see, Ask questions, follow up thats there job call, write , send emails do what you have to Know the law,,,,if you dont your child could be missing out on what they are due , Im going thru this know, but I did my research and I now what the law is in regards to time frames, when things are suppose to be done When you get your draft of the IEP if something doesnt seem right or is worded wrong Dont sign it, send it back till the corrections are made then sin it,,,,I did this I noticed a mistake I asked and I was right I sent it back, they made correction sent it back to me i signed it and sent it back then got my official copy What you have to say does matter!!!!
Your opinions and input I do hear !!!! Your feelings are considered !!! I do hear you!!!!! I think once you reach high school you gotta start figuring things out for your self, learning how to get information, how to find it, its all a big preparation for the real world!
Best thing is when they ask questions and put curious about bank accounts, and about driving a car and whats a social security card, and about getting a job !!these are all good questions hard to believe they are all happening like now! As adults we already now what to expect so why not set your kid up for success Im so glad I am a planner I have always been that way time goes by fast and if you wait, it could be just too late.especially for scholarships and grants for college or certificate programs, thats a whole other topic, which I did look in to I feel like my brain is bursting with all the things to remember and all the information it is filled with. In MA teenagers can start working as young as 14 years old I think thats too young, teenagers have other things they need to do especially at age 14. at 14 most are starting 9th grade, still figuring out what high school is all about, what clubs are offered, trying to get thru the midterms , and all that studying they have to do while still trying to have fun , trying to make friends and still learning what is out there for them. So many things to do and consider, what classes do I take? what do I like? what interest me? You think its one thing and then you find out you like other things, which is good I say try a little of everything see what you like , try it you wont know till try it.
