looks like its gonna be a busy summer for everyone. We have another baby coming any day now, and we have summer activities that he the teenager has signed up for which is another step forward in the right direction its amazing very proud of him really growing up and trying things, and volunteer work yes they are required to do that now in order to graduate but I have some good volunteer work picked out so it wont be so horrible it will be fun , he has his electives picked out for next school yea and i cant believe one course he will be taken is trigonometry, I cant even fathom that.
It started by him telling them no he wasnt going then I happened to see a email saying $20 was due for the dance and the dead line had passed by a week. well if you knew me you know I talked with him and said he should go, it was a night out to have fun and he might regret later that he didnt go, I told him there would be food there and that sold him right there, so I sent in the money and we were all set.
The dance was located in a different city a hr away we all me up was treated to time for pictures and appetizers, the boys got carnations and a school bus took them to the destination, girls were asking him are you gonna dance and he said yes Im gonna dance wow!!!off they went and he came home at 11pm smiling, he said he would go again, he is growing Amazing, well in order to get a social security card you need a ID well just so happens in my state a child 14 yrs old and older can get a state ID at the rmv, well he got it and something about that picture ID just made him smile from cheek to cheek he is so proud that he has this, it makes him feel more and more grown up. so glad that is taking care of check that off my list, with that applied for a social security card and that was sent to us he signed it and thats done check that off the list. with that comes the explaining of what is a social security card?, why do we need it? and also the explanation which I did prior about signatures and why a hand written signature is important and to keep it the same and how do you want to sign your signature with a middle initial or not?and documents in your life that will require your signature and social security number. next on the list of things to do is his own savings account at the bank, with his own name on it. he is very intrigued with a credit card, I explained its not free money you have to pay it back I told him we will worry about that later in life lets established savings first and a relationship with the bank and show a history of saving money. Its funny the questions teenagers have about life, but its good and shows they are learning and growing I would rather have questions instead of just doing it with out asking
When a teenager says to you they dont wanna go to a Pizza Party, then should give you a heads up !! hmmm why? well being the detective that I am , I was right sometimes you have to push them out there , its a Life Lesson how else will they learn unless they try. they need to learn slowly to to solve there own problems and to figure out alternative solutions.
I think once you reach high school you gotta start figuring things out for your self, learning how to get information, how to find it, its all a big preparation for the real world!
Best thing is when they ask questions and put curious about bank accounts, and about driving a car and whats a social security card, and about getting a job !!these are all good questions hard to believe they are all happening like now! As adults we already now what to expect so why not set your kid up for success Im so glad I am a planner I have always been that way time goes by fast and if you wait, it could be just too late.especially for scholarships and grants for college or certificate programs, thats a whole other topic, which I did look in to I feel like my brain is bursting with all the things to remember and all the information it is filled with. In MA teenagers can start working as young as 14 years old I think thats too young, teenagers have other things they need to do especially at age 14. at 14 most are starting 9th grade, still figuring out what high school is all about, what clubs are offered, trying to get thru the midterms , and all that studying they have to do while still trying to have fun , trying to make friends and still learning what is out there for them. So many things to do and consider, what classes do I take? what do I like? what interest me? You think its one thing and then you find out you like other things, which is good I say try a little of everything see what you like , try it you wont know till try it. One step at a time-One day at a time You know they are growing up when they have midterms for the first time a new experience,
midterms went well I was told, I even got email from a teacher that i have spoken with since Sept letting me now he got a 72% on his history midterm, thats just awesome, history seemed to be a problem an its not over yet, with studying, and what your studying and how to study history we adapted the 15 min every day after school of studying . an if theres no test or nothing to study (which there always is ) then just review dont matter every day 15 min . sometimes its easy and they do it sometimes theres a argument and they do it. In math he got top 2 in his class and his teach gave him gummie bears,,,he cant eat them tho he has braces , dieing to now how he did, now semester 2 starts new electives , semester 2 should be interesting no cooking class and designing a web site he had to change and joining a club , not a after school program a actually club at school , growing, learning, taking on responsibility, finding out what you like, becoming more interested and inquisitive and another thing happening is community service again this should be interesting i tried to pare him with a group that was more him , that he would be more comfortable with so hoping the 3 months in school will be good Well for us its day 2 of mi terms, yesterday day 1 we had cooking midterms well whatever class you had scheduled for that time period an then it was a break very nice teacher made them muffins then he moved on to biology 90 questions and 2 essay questions today day 2 photography and history, hope he does well I told him t take his time, and go back to a question if you get stuck he too all the allotted time so thats good no need to rush your gonna be stuck there anyways. all these little signs of growing up you want them to do well . today I tell him come on day 2 and I make like I am boxing saying lets kick history's mid terms butt, wash up , put on some deodorant lets have a good attitude and do this
